Introduction

It is important to ensure that your work is both error free and that layout and formatting guidelines are adhered to before you make your submission to arima. The following guidelines are designed to make this process as simple as possible. However, should you have any queries or need assistance do not hesitate to contact us.
Manuscripts

You should prepare your manuscript as a single word-processor file and make sure that the version you submit has the contents in the order that you want for the final published book. The page layout (page size, margins etc) that you work to when producing your manuscript does not matter.

When using your word-processor package you should avoid unnecessary formatting of the document; the appearance and layout of your book will be created by arima when we process your submission. For further guidance regarding preparation and formatting please refer to the manuscript submission guidelines.
Covers

If you browse the shelves of your local bookshop, you will soon appreciate how important the packaging of a book is. At arima, quality cover design is a key part of the publishing process. If you are using one of the professional templates, the submission requirements are listed in the template section. If you have elected to commission a cover design, you will receive the appropriate guidelines and options as part of this service.
Biography, synopsis and reviews

It is important to consider what information you will include on the back cover of your book. It is desirable to include a brief summary of the book and this should not exceed 100 words. Reviews of your work can also be put on the cover and should include the credit.

The back cover can also include a photograph and brief biography of the author: ideally the biography should be about 50 words.
Graphics and photographs

If you want to include images in the body of your book please remember these can only be reproduced in black and white. When preparing your manuscript you should NOT embed or paste the images into the actual text of the document. However, you do need to indicate where the image should go in the document and you should do this by inserting a marker enclosed by angle brackets <> with a blank line above and below, as follows:

<image1.tif >

  'caption'

If you require a caption, this should be included in the text of your manuscript immediately following the image marker. For further guidance on using and preparing images please refer to graphics and images guidelines.
